A Casual Vacancy exists.

Published: 05 February 2024

We have received notice from Cllr. Lippett that she wishes to tender her resignation as a Town Councillor
for the Town Ward with immediate effect. We thank Becky for her service to the Council and wish her every
success and happiness for the future.

As a result of the resignation, a Casual Vacancy exists for the Town Ward. We have notified EDDC who will
start the formal process for a petition for an election. Our CVP1 and CVP2 forms have been published.
The CVP3 form from EDDC was also published today and is available HERE

This notice advises that electors of the ward have until the 23rd February 2024 (5pm) to lodge their petition for
an election to fill this vacancy. If no such petition is received by EDDC's Returning Officer, then the Town Council
will be asked to fill the vacancy via the process of co-option.

Update 23/02/2024:

As no petition was lodged with EDDC, the casual vacancy may now be filled by the process of co-option.
See our "Elections and Casual Vacancies" page for more details.
