More life-saving equipment for Axminster

Published: 12 May 2023

Axminster Fire Station and Bennett & Rogers Opticians have kindly allowed us to install Automated External Defibrillator (AED) cabinets on their premises for anyone to access in the event that a nearby member of the public suffers from a sudden cardiac arrest.

The Defibrillator installed at the Fire Station was donated by Jay's Aim, a charity committed to reducing the rate of sudden cardiac death among young people in South-West England.

This brings the provision of AEDs managed by the Town Council up to 9, but other organisations are installing their own all of the time.

Upon calling 999, the emergency services will tell you where your nearest AED is; however, in such situations, time is of the essence, so we have compiled a list on our website of all of the publicly accessible defibrillators that the Town Council is aware of. That way, you can familiarise yourself with their locations, just in case. Find the list under "About Axminster", on the menu tab and on the page marked "Local Information".

If you host a defibrillator in Axminster which is available to the public but which does not currently appear on this list, then please get in touch so that we can add it to our website.

We will continue to raise awareness about these truly life-saving pieces of equipment, and we would like to sincerely thank Axminster Fire Service and Bennett & Rogers for facilitating and hosting our new defibrillators and Jay's Aim for donating one of the new AED's.
