Following the end of tenure of Cllr. Jeremy Walden as Mayor, the election of a new Town Mayor was taken as it has been done traditionally, at the Town Council's May meeting. Cllr. Anni Young was duly proposed and elected at Axminster's Town Mayor, who is also the Chairman of the Council. Cllr. Young said she was "honoured to have been elected to the position". The role of Deputy Mayor was also up for election, and Cllr. Dave Moore was elected to that position. The handing over of the Mayoral regalia then took place and Cllrs. Young and Moore duly took their places at the top table to chair the meeting.
At the meeting Carol Doherty (who served on the Council from 2015-2019) and Mike Featherstone were co-opted onto the Council and it was also the inaugural meeting for new Councillors Jill Farrow and Martin Spurway.
