Axminster's Annual Meeting of the Parish

Published: 16 February 2025

The Annual Meeting of the Parish will be held at Axminster Guildhall on Monday, March 3rd, at 7:00 pm. This meeting provides an opportunity for the community to come together and discuss matters relating to the area.

Between March 1st and June 1st each year, Parish and Town Councils across the country host these meetings to foster community engagement. It is important to note that this event is distinct from the more formal Annual Council Meeting, which takes place at the start of May and follows a set format.

The Chair of Axminster Town Council, Mayor Jill Farrow, has called this year's meeting to take place at 7:00 pm on Monday, March 3rd at Axminster Guildhall. Key themes for this year include Axminster's high street and economy, with speakers from the Chamber of Commerce and local traders. Additionally, there will be discussions on VE Day and VJ Day arrangements, presented by representatives of the Royal British Legion and Axminster Heritage Center. Brief updates from other local representatives will also be provided.

Previous meeting themes have included flooding and the role of community-led emergency planning, climate action, the voluntary, community, and charity sectors, and how to get involved with local democracy.

We encourage all residents of Axminster to attend and participate as discussions at the Annual Meeting of the Parish provide great insight into the community's concerns and help shape its future.
