Cannington Viaduct Walk on TV

Published: 18 September 2026

It was fantastic to see For The Love of a Railway featured on ITV West Country and BBC Tonight!

Axminster Town Council has been pleased to support the team in helping bring the Cannington Viaduct back to life and reopen it for this very special weekend.

Around a year ago, Town Council representatives met with the Rail Network and For the Love of a Railway, and discussed what a great idea it would be to reopen the viaduct and create something special for the community to enjoy. Since then, this fantastic Axminster charity has shown incredible determination to make that idea a reality.

With the support of numerous organisations, local groups and, most importantly, the many volunteers who have given their time and expertise, they are now gearing up to welcome visitors to a SOLD-OUT event.

This is a brilliant example of what can be achieved when organisations and volunteers come together with a shared vision for our community.

Axminster Town Council is proud to have been able to play a small part in helping make it happen.

If you do not have a ticket, please do not attempt to attend. The event is completely sold out, and unfortunately anyone without a valid ticket will be turned away.

We wish the whole team at For The Love of a Railway a fantastic weekend. You’ve done Axminster proud
