Centenary of the War Memorial

The Town Mayor was pleased to attend the Centenary celebration of the war memorial on the Minster Green recently.  The event was organised by the Axminster branch of the Royal British Legion to celebrate 100 years since the installation of the memorial in 1921, just after the First World War, and was originally paid for by public subscription.  The memorial is now Grade II listed.

The Town Council recently organised and funded the cleaning and restoration of the memorial, so it was looking its best for the illustrious occasion.  Also in attendance was the Member of Parliament for Honiton & Tiverton, Neil Parish, RBL representative Lesley Frankau and Rear Admiral Tim Lowe CBE RN Retired.
